Greeting cards seem to get prettier every year, don’t they? The only downside is that they’re even harder to part with when the holiday is over. If you find yourself with a stack of cards you can’t bear to toss — don’t! Turn them into this beautiful and useful garland instead. It’s ready to hang in minutes, and all you need is scissors, string, and tape or a stapler. A Greeting Card Banner lets you declutter while you save all the great memories. One-of-a-kind and uniquely meaningful, a Greeting Card Banner is way better than any store-bought decoration. You’ll want to make a new one each year to add to your collection!

Steps At a Glance:
Ready? Here’s how:
1
You’ll need:
that stack of cards you’ve been hanging on to
regular or double-sided tape, or a stapler
scissors
string or twine
2
Cut a length of string or twine and tie a loop at each end.
3
Find the fold on your card. That will be the top of your banner.
Cut out one or two tall triangles. Make sure the fold is opposite the pointy end.
Different size cards will give different size triangles but they will all look good together.
4
Open a triangle and put the string inside.
Put a piece of double-sided tape below the string and close the triangle. You can also use a circle of regular tape wrapped sticky-side-out. Or staple the closed triangle near the corners. Dealer’s choice!
Repeat until your string looks awesome.
5
The triangle on the far left was stapled. Try not to staple the string so you can slide and arrange the triangles.
Once you like how it looks, hang your banner up from a couple of pushpins and be amazed at yourself!
Every banner has its own festive mix of colors and patterns. I made these banners from a totally random assortment, and I like how it came out.
You can store your banner in a big recycled envelope or a repurposed plastic zippered produce bag. If you ever take it down.
