The beauty of fast crafting

You’ve probably noticed words like “quick”, “fast”, and “in minutes” appear a lot on this site. Why am I so obsessed with time? In the beginning I knew I wanted my crafts to be fast just so parents could make things with their kids on busy days. That is still super important, and a cornerstone of my designs. And as I designed more crafts with speed in mind, another major benefit of fast crafting became obvious. Speedy crafts are easier to take risks with. You can make another house or Nicho in five or ten minutes, so why not try putting wheels on the one you just made, or cutting holes in it, or do whatever creative idea occurs to you in the moment. That immediacy of make, try, make again is where some real magic can happen.

And pulling back to an even bigger picture, a craft that’s in your hands, finished, while you’re still excited about making it is energizing. It shows what happens when you spend those minutes making something, and gives you a reason to do it again. Creativity is a cycle. Fast crafting helps it to become a habit.
